What is inside your Viagra pack?

Viagra is a blue, film-coated tablet of the diamond shape, slightly biconvex with truncated and rounded edges. One can notice the name of the producer “Pfizer” on the one side and on the other there is “VGR 50” or “VGR 100”, the content of active substance respectively.

Each tablet of Viagra includes: active ingredient: Sildenafil Citrate 25 mg, 50 mg or 100 mg. Sildenafil is not the only substance from which it is Viagra. This chemical compound composed of nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, carbon and sulfur.

Other ingredients, which are included in Viagra formulation are the following:

  • microcrystalline cellulose,
  • calcium hydrogen phosphate (anhydrous),
  • croscarmellose sodium,
  • magnesium stearate,
  • film coating is Opadry® blue and Opadry® clear.

In particular, croscarmellose sodium is white or grayish-white powder having no odor. It is used in many oral medications. Croscarmellose sodium occupies about 5% of the tablet. It accelerates the dissolution of the main component – Sildenafil, making Viagra start to act in 15-20 minutes. Magnesium stearate is an additive emulsifier. It has found its application in cosmetics and medicines. It is used to provide Viagra with a pleasant taste. Microcrystalline cellulose helps Sildenafil to be absorbed by the blood. In this action it is similar to the croscarmellose sodium.

The components of the drug Viagra help 90% of cases, when a man has erectile dysfunction. There are no age restrictions. Any man can benefit from using Viagra and enjoy great power making all his sexual fantasies true. For most patients, Viagra is safe, but it is advisable to consult your doctor if you have any other health problems, besides ED or if you want to combine Viagra with any other medicine as not all drugs interactions may be completely safe and free from unwanted side effects.

Learn more about Sildenafil action

The story of Viagra development is interesting. The well-known pharmaceutical company Pfizer has been developing the drug for the treatment of angina. Of particular interest there were the tablets composed of such compound as Sildenafil Citrate. There were no profound effects on cardiac function but there was an increased potency effect. After a while researchers have stopped studies on the effects of Sildenafil on the heart and created an officially registered drug to fight against erectile dysfunction – Viagra, which first appeared on the shelves of US pharmacies in 1998.

The chemical composition of Sildenafil belongs to the group of selective inhibitors of cGMP-specific PDE5. It is responsible for the breakdown of cGMP in the cavernous bodies of the penis. This active Viagra component has an ability to actively strengthen the relaxing effect of the nitric oxide in the corpus cavernosum of the smooth muscle and increase blood flow to the male genitals.

The effect of Viagra is going to be present up to 4 hours. When the activation of the chain NO-cGMP takes place, and it occurs during natural excitement, PDE5 is inhibited and this increases cGMP in the cavernous body. The use of sildenafil is contraindicated if a person has cardiovascular disease, priapism, cavernous fibrosis, multiple myeloma, sickle cell anemia, leukemia. Viagra should not be taken together with the donators of nitric oxide, nitroglycerin, isosorbide nitrate and any other drugs for erectile dysfunction treatment.

How does Viagra act on the man’s body?

The drug Viagra based on Sildenafil is produced in the form of tablets of 50, 100 mg. It increases blood circulation in the genital organs of males and causes a natural erection. After the successful sexual intercourse the erection disappears. The effect of Viagra use will be only at the presence of the natural sexual stimulation. Viagra’s main principle of action is based on the enhancing the functions of a man returning him the chance to lead a healthy sexual life, which won’t differ from that one he had before being diagnosed erectile dysfunction. It is recommended to take not more than one 100-mg tablet per day.

After taking the drug there are possible certain side effects as headache, dizziness, stuffy nose, blurred vision. They are short on time and have no particular risk to human health. Viagra should not be taken together with the donators of nitric oxide and nitrates in any form. The side effects happen not often and not obligatory for all men. Everything depends on your individual body reaction. You should take into account that in case there is individual intolerability of any drug component you shouldn’t risk taking the drug as this may lead to serious allergic reaction.

If you follow the dosage recommendations and avoid taking more than the maximum dose 100 mg per day, then you may feel free worries as Viagra is a safe FDA approved drug with no serious side effects for those men who take the correct doses and doesn’t have any severe stages of diseases, which are mentioned in the instructions. Among them there are such as heart, liver and kidney health problems. If you have low or high blood pressure it is recommended to consult a doctor as well. Be on the safe side and get a professional consultation if you have any doubts concerning the simultaneous drugs’ intake or any serious health problem you have, besides erectile dysfunction.
